Fire fighters had to cut a man free from his car this evening after the vehicle skidded off an Aberdeenshire road and landed across a stone wall.

Emergency services were called to near the Old Mill Inn at Maryculter, off the South Deeside Road, following the accident which happened around 8pm.

It involved just one vehicle, a silver Vauxhall Astra, which had three doors prised off to free the driver inside.

The front of the car was completely destroyed during the impact, and the fire service had to tackle the vehicle with cutting gear as it hovered over the stone embankment.

Only one person was in side at the time, and they were not seriously hurt.

A police spokeswoman said: “The road was closed and diversions were put in place at Milltimber Brae due to the number of emergency vehicles.

“It is not thought to be serious injuries. The car hit a wall. With the way it came to land, it took a wee while to tidy up.

“We received the call at 8.02pm.”

A fire and rescue spokesman said two appliances, one from North Anderson Drive and one from Central station, were sent to the scene.

The incident came just days after another two car crash happened near the Inn, in which one vehicle burst into flames.

Two people were left critically injured following the accident on Tuesday night around 10pm – a 19-year-old man who had to be pulled from the burning wreckage of his Ford Ka, and a 22-year-old woman who had to be cut free from her Ford Fiesta.

The road was closed for more than 12 hours while officers cleared the scene and pieced together what happened.

The Ford Ka was left a burned-out wreck, and police are still appealing for any witnesses.
