A pharmacist and former gameshow contestant from Aberdeen has been accused of stealing controlled drugs from chemist shops where she worked.

Kelly MacDonald, 28, has been reported by police to prosecutors accused of taking the medication from shops in Aberdeen and Elgin where she worked as a locum.

Ms MacDonald appeared on the gameshow Deal or No Deal last year but returned home with just £2.50 from the programme, which is hosted by Noel Edmonds.

Police confirmed it has passed a report on Ms MacDonald to to the Procurator Fiscal, who will decide whether any criminal case will be raised against her.

It is understood she was arrested last week.

As a result, regulators at the General Pharmaceutical Council are considering whether the allegations amount to possible professional misconduct.

A spokeswoman for Police Scotland said: “A 28-year-old woman has been charged and will be reported to the procurator fiscal in relation to drugs offences and theft.

“She is expected to appear in court at a later date.”

A spokesman for the General Pharmaceutical Council said information received on Ms MacDonald was currently being considered.

However, he stressed Ms MacDonald still had full registration with the council and that specifics of individual cases could not be discussed.

No public hearing regarding Ms MacDonald had been scheduled, he added.
