Meet the north-east’s new top cop

Police Scotland have announced their new divisional commander for the new north-east division.

Chief Superintendent Campbell Thomson is the current Divisional Commander for Aberdeenshire and Moray Division and has served in the North East of Scotland for over 25 years.

Mr Thomson will be supported by Kate Stephen, Superintendent Partnerships and Events, George MacDonald, Superintendent Support and Innes Walker, Superintendent Operations.

All will take up their new posts on the of January 1, 2016 when the new North East Division covering Aberdeen City, Aberdeenshire and Moray will become fully operational.

Assistant Chief Constable Derek Robertson,  said: “I am delighted to confirm that Chief Superintendent Campbell Thomson has been nominated as the Divisional Commander for the North East Local Policing Division.

“He brings with him a wealth of experience and knowledge of policing the communities in the North East of Scotland as well as further afield. I have no doubt that this will help us to further improve policing in the area and the service provided to our local communities.”

Chief Superintendent Campbell Thomson said, “It is a privilege to be nominated the Divisional Commander for the new North East Division. I would like to acknowledge the excellent work of Police Officers and Police Staff throughout the communities of Moray, Aberdeen City and Aberdeenshire. Strengthening the Divisions will enable us to enhance that work while recognising that local policing is at the very heart of what we do.

“I look forward to building on the very positive partnership working already established as we collectively strive to improve the service we deliver to our communities.”

The team will be based at Queen Street Police Office in Aberdeen.
