A well-known Aberdeen nightspot has closed its doors for the final time.
The Priory in the city’s Belmont Street has shut for good but is set to be replaced by a new nightclub.
The club, located in historic St Nicholas Congregational Church, opened as the The Piory in 2000.
Now owners Epic Group plan to relaunch the site with a new attraction called Redemption.
The nightclub will have a dedicated Purple Rain bar – a drink which The Priory was well-known for.
The new venue will have around 50 staff and will open on Friday, August 26.
Grant Wiseman, of the Epic Group, told the Evening Express: “Clubbing in Aberdeen is stale to say the least.
“Aberdeen once had a great reputation for clubbing and Redemption will bring it back again.
“People will be blown away by the venue.
“The venue will entertain and impress.”
He added: “Between security, management, DJs promotion and so on, 50 new jobs will be created.
“Belmont Street is the heartland of nightlife in Aberdeen.
“It’s the only nightclub in the pedestrian area of the city.
“The Priory was really a late-night bar but this will be a nightclub.
“We have nightclubs and venues closing across the city so this is much needed.”
