The Scottish Conservatives have chosen Colin Clark as their candidate in an upcoming Aberdeenshire by-election.
The Inverurie and District seat has been made vacant by the resignation of Martin Kitts-Hayes, who stepped down last month, following the “Legogate” scandal.
The former councillor was due to attend the North Sea Commission at Legoland in Denmark in June, but returned home early because he was not happy with his accommodation.
The aborted trip cost just under £3,500.
And now, Mr Clark will fight his corner in the election, which takes place on November 3.
The Aberdeenshire businessman, who lives near Oldmeldrum with his wife and children, previously contested the Gordon seat in the 2015 election against former SNP leader and first minister Alex Salmond.
And, in this year’s Scottish Parliament election, he stood for the Aberdeenshire East seat.
Mr Clark said: “This by-election is a straight fight between the SNP and the Scottish Conservatives and I hope that people will get behind me to make sure we increase our numbers in Aberdeenshire.”
