Two men due to appear in court following Aberdeen supermarket lockdown

The incident took place outside Aldi.
The incident took place outside Aldi.

Two men have been charged and another was left injured after an incident at an Aberdeen supermarket car park last night.

The pair, aged 22 and 23, are expected to appear at Aberdeen Sheriff Court tomorrow.

An ambulance team along with a police dog vehicle, two police vans and three cop cars were called to the scene at the newly opened Aldi on Foresterhill shortly after 9.30pm on Tuesday.

One of the men involved was taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary last night but his injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.

A large corner of the car park and surrounding bushes were taped off by police and officers could be seen inspecting a silver BMW inside the cordoned-off area.

Detective Constable Jill Anderson said: “I would like to reassure people living in the area that this appears to be an isolated and contained incident, with early indications suggesting this was a targeted attack involving a group of males potentially known to each other.

“From our inquiries so far I would stress that the individuals involved in this incident posed no threat to the wider public.

“Inquiries are ongoing and there will be some police presence in the area while our investigation continues. I would appeal to the public for their cooperation and patience while these Inquiries are carried out.

Police have urged witnesses or anyone with information regarding the incident to contact them on 101, or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 if you wish to remain anonymous.
