A site once earmarked for a new stadium for Aberdeen football club could now host a supermarket – despite original plans falling through.
Developer Muir Homes is looking at the land at Loirston as a potential new site for a supermarket chain.
It comes five months after the Dons confirmed the club was dropping plans for the site and instead hoping to move to the Kingsford area.
The new facility, which could be built beside the A944 Aberdeen to Westhill road would feature a new stadium and state-of-the-art training facility.
The original plans to build a supermarket at the Loirston site were scrapped and allocation was moved to the nearby Makro building instead.
But the existing Makro building has now been deemed too small following the arrival of IKEA, which now operates in part of the property.
Muir Homes, part of the Muir Group, now hope the site could host the supermarket to meet the needs of a new 1,067-home development at Loirston.
