Hundreds of north-east holidaymakers are currently trying to make their way home after a medical emergency caused their flight to be diverted.
The Thomson-chartered flight FP0826T was due to take 200 passengers from Tenerife to the city’s International Airport yesterday afternoon.
They were told at check-in, however, that a medical emergency had meant the incoming flight had been diverted from Aberdeen to Tenerife, via Cork in Ireland.
A Thomson Airways spokesman said: “We would like to apologise to our customers for any inconvenience caused by a delay between Aberdeen and Tenerife due to the aircraft needing to divert to Cork as a result of a medical emergency.
“We have made provisions for customers including overnight accommodation for those in Cork and those in Tenerife who are due to travel home.
“We would like to reassure everyone that we are working as quickly as possible to get all customers affected on their journeys as soon as we can.”
