Those who drive past the M&S Foodhall at Stoneywood road every day will be pleased to hear that it finally has an opening date.

It will open its doors to the public on Monday, December 12 at 10am.

The brand new 9,000 sq ft store, which will create 50 new jobs for the area and also includes a cafe, will sit at the heart of Dandara’s new residential and commercial development on Beech Manor.

During opening week, the store will feature tasting and sampling from local suppliers, including Baxters, Walkers and Associated Seafoods.

Andrew Christie, store manager at M&S Foodhall Stoneywood, said: “There has been a lot of anticipation around the opening of the store and we are all very excited about being able to welcome customers through our doors ahead of Christmas.

“We expect the first few weeks of opening to be extremely busy with the festive rush, especially as Christmas food orders start to come in, but we’re looking forward to meeting our new customers.”

On the day of the launch and as a nod to the store’s location, the store has invited representatives from nearby Stoneywood paper mill and pupils from Stoneywood School to join them to cut the ribbon to mark the official launch of the store.

“It’s exciting to be part of a new development which will offer new residents and nearby offices the convenience of being able to pick up tasty evening meals, or a meeting spot for a mid-morning coffee,” said Mr Christie.

“We look forward to welcoming members of the community in-store from December 12.”

Peter Best head of sales at Dandara said: “We are pleased to welcome M&S to our award-winning Stoneywood development, allowing residents and tenants to take advantage of the store’s high quality food in time for Christmas.

“The opening of the store comes at an exciting time as we look to launch The Meadows, the latest phase of homes at Stoneywood and the second block of rental apartments at Forbes Place early next year.”
