An Aberdeenshire racing driver has revved up almost £1,000 for sick kids in the north-east of Scotland by selling space on the roof of her Mini Cooper.

Hannah Chapman, 23, is one of the fastest rising female driving stars in Scotland.

Thanks to her skills behind the wheel of her pink-topped Mini Cooper, Miss Chapman has already been named the 2014 Scottish Mini Cooper cup Newcomers Champion, and the Scottish Motor Racing Club’s 2015 driver of the year.

And for this year’s racing season Miss Chapman, from Pitmedden, decided to sell off advertising space on top of her car to raise cash for The ARCHIE Foundation – the official charity of the Royal Aberdeen Children’s Hospital (RACH).

Miss Chapman, who works as a sales and marketing assistant at Ram Tubulars, said it was her employer’s sponsorship that allowed her to make the impressive donation.

She said: “I race in the Scottish Mini Cooper Cup down at the Knockhill Race Circuit, and through my racing I have sponsors and their logos go onto the car.

“In the past I’ve had to use the roof space on top of my race car to raise money for myself, just to help me keep racing, but now because my main sponsors are Ram Tubulars I’ve been able to use the space for a good cause.

“So we decided to sell spaces off for ARCHIE, and then Ram Tubulars would double that.

“We raised £910 all together, and I’m really happy with that.”

All the money raised by Miss Chapman will go towards supporting youngsters from all across the north-east of Scotland, Orkney and Shetland that receive treatment at RACH.

Ms Chapman added: “It just seemed like the right thing to do. It’s an amazing cause, once I got speaking to them I had a tour of the hospital, and saw all the great work they do for the children and their families there.”
