Aberdeen’s only micro-brewery has raised funds to feed forty people this Christmas after a generous donation.

Fierce Beer, established in May this year, has gifted £200 worth of meals for the homeless in the Granite City through the Social Bite charity.

And the craft beer company announced that all profits from its merchandise sales would be donated to the social enterprise venture.

Dave Grant, managing director, said: “It’s important, at this time of year, to be kind to one another and, after all the incredible support we’ve received over the past few months, we thought this was the perfect opportunity to give something back at this special time of year.

“The ‘support local’ campaign which was launched in Aberdeen a few months ago, should not only mean we actively go out to support local business’, but we believe it should be supporting local people and the community too.

“As a result of raising £200 [at an event evening], this has allowed us to be able to donate 40 meals to individuals in Aberdeen who are homeless this Christmas.

“With one in four of Social Bite’s staff formerly homeless, and 100% of the business’ profits going to charity, we felt it was the right cause to give back to and are humbled to have been able to give a little something back to the local community during this festive period.”

Social Bite feeds approximately 150 homeless people in Scotland every day and currently boasts five shops across Aberdeen, Glasgow and Edinburgh.

The social business also offers a suspended coffee and food service, which allows customers to pay for a coffee or any item of food from their menu, so that a homeless person can go into the shop and claim it.

Fierce beer, which employs four people, is located in the Dyce area of the city.
