The first baby born on Christmas Day in Scotland arrived just minutes after the bells struck midnight.
Little Ailie Urquhart was welcomed onto the maternity ward in Aberdeen at 12:08am.
It was a proper Christmas miracle for dad Andrew, 39, and 33 year old mum Lisa – as Ailie arrived on her due date.
The married couple, from Banchory, were over the moon with the festive delivery.
And the 8lbs six and three quarter ounces bundle of joy was expected to meet big sister, three and half year old Neave later on the big day – after she had opened her presents from Santa.
Lisa, a project manager, said: “Christmas day is her due date, which is just unheard of.”
Proud dad Andrew, a landscape gardener, said: “We had been in the hospital for about 12 hours before she was born.
“I got to hold Ailie about half past 12.
“I’ve had her for a couple of hours and she’s been great – just sleeping away.
“She’s amazing.”
The midwives at Aberdeen Maternity Hospital did not have much time to celebrate the start of Christmas Day as soon there was another ‘parcel’ to be delivered.
Mum Natalia Streeter, 29, gave birth to little Logan Forbes at 1.15am.
An accountant, Natalia was still speechless hours after welcoming her son into the world.
Adam Forbes, 30, an offshore worker managed to sneak off for a sleep yesterday morning.
Natalia stayed up with her 8lbs newborn, walking him down the corridors of the Summerfield Ward showing him off to the delight of the nurses.
She is going to give Logan a half birthday so that he doesn’t miss out on presents growing up.Natalia, who is half Polish but was brought up in Aberdeen, hopes her own mum can get the adorable youngster speaking in both tongues.
She said: “There’s no words to describe it. It’s been the most emotional day of my life.
“He’s gorgeous and even has a full head of hair.
“My due date was Christmas Day so I can’t believe he arrived on time.”
