Aberdeenshire schools have been forced to close this morning due to dangerous driving conditions.
Towie School in Alford was the first to shut to all pupils and staff due to dangerous conditions on the roads.
A number of schools are expected to be affected due to arctic storms hitting the north of Scotland.

Gordon Schools (The) – School Transport Not Operating ( Premier coach – NS644L not running today due to poor road conditions (Corse/Drumblade/Marnoch). Pupils should logon to Glow for resources. )
Gordon Schools (The) – School Transport Not Operating ( NS644C Stagecoach bus is running late due to poor road conditions. Pupils should not wait longer than 20 minutes. Resources are available on GLOW for home study. )
Gordon Schools (The) – School Transport Not Operating ( NS644A-L will not run today as the Rhynie/Lumsden Road is closed. Pupils should logon to GLOW and self study. The connector F-NS644-O Rieds bus will therefore not running. )
Gourdon School – School Closed to Everyone ( School closed due to power cut. )
Inverurie Academy – Changes to School Transport Routes ( Due to high winds, Stagecoach have replaced the double decker coach on the SS649A route from Insch with two coaches. The second coach may be slightly delayed in arriving, but should not be too far behind the first coach. )

Midmar School – School Transport Not Operating ( Premier Coaches will not operate today. They have tried the route but have had to abandon it. )

St Andrews School, Fraserburgh – Partial Closure for Pupils ( The INFANT BUILDING in Albert Street has no power and is closed. (p1-p3) The rest of the school and Nursery are unaffected and will remain open. )
St Combs School – School Closed to Everyone ( School is closed today due to a power cut. Power is not expected to be restored until 2pm. )
St Cyrus School – School Transport Not Operating ( We have just been informed that despite attempts made by the bus company, the bus has not been able to travel beyond Castle Park of Morphie due to road conditions. There will therefore be no collection of pupils today. )
Strathdon School – School Closed to Everyone ()
Towie School – School Closed to Everyone ( School and nursery closed today due to unsafe driving conditions and road closures. Staff continue with agreed improvement work. )
Turriff academy – School Transport Not Operating ( W&G Coaches – Connecting bus for Fisherie Crudie is not running today. Bus attempted the run but road and weather conditions mean they turned back for safety reasons. The main Fisherie Crudie bus is operating normally, it is only the connecting bus which is cancelled. )
