Car ban plan: What is the alternative?

As proposals emerge to ban cars from some of Aberdeen’s most polluted streets, we asked members of the public, What is the alternative?

“This will just mean HGVs have to take longer routes and this will lead to more pollution.”

“There is a lot of industry in the area and there isn’t the infrastructure there to do this.”

“I would definitely support this.

“Wellington Road was recently named as the third most polluted road in Scotland and anything which reduces the pollution there is necessary.

“It becomes especially necessary with the incinerator and the new south of the city academy at the top of the road.”

“This would make my job a lot easier as I’m a site supervisor at a utility company and HGVs are always getting in the way.

“You would not be able to ban them all the time though because people will have to carry out deliveries.”

“I would probably support this even just to reduce traffic flow.”
