A concert to raise funds for this year’s Aberdeen International Youth Festival (AIYF) will be held tomorrow evening.
Each year, the AIYF attracts young actors, singers and dancers from across the globe to the north-east of Scotland for a week of performances.
And local artists will take to the stage at Queen’s Cross Church on Albyn Place tomorrow night to help raise cash to make this year, the 45th anniversary of the AIYF, its best year yet.
The show, which will feature music from all styles and genres including pop, rock, jazz, soul and classical will begin at 7.30pm.
It has been supported by the Youth Arts Collective North-East, an organisation that helps to create opportunities for under-25s hoping to secure a career in the arts, and AIYF’s Young Promoters group, who will be taking part in the event.
Stewart Aitken, artistic director of AIYF, said: “The fundraising concert I am sure will be a great evening and AIYF are thrilled by all the support from the friends, young producers, the performers and of course the audience it receives.
“I am delighted that several of our Young Music Promoters will be performing as part of the fundraising event.
“Some of the performers at the Fundraising Concert have been involved in the Young Promoter’s scheme since it was established in 2015, and they are now becoming hugely influential in the music industry in Aberdeen a further afield.
“It’s a real pleasure to see them grow, find their own creative voices and have the confidence and skills to promote themselves as flourishing young musicians.”
The festival will take place from July 28 to August 5 in venues across Aberdeen and the rest of the north-east.
