Grampian is set for an end to the wintry blasts which have enveloped the region during the past couple of days.
Following sustained bursts of sleet and snow on Monday and Tuesday, it’s expected conditions will brighten up today.
Showers will be lighter and less frequent, and temperatures will climb a couple of degrees to peak at 9C, although it will feel considerably warmer because the wind will be lighter compared with the last few days.
However, in the upland areas of Grampian, there could still be some wintry showers.
Tomorrow, it will continue to become milder and the only snow in the region will be on hilltops. Towards the weekend, more Atlantic air will continue to feed across the north of Scotland, bringing with it drier and warmer conditions on Friday and Saturday.
Peter Sloss, a meteorologist with the Met Office in Aberdeen, explained why the weather will improve.
He said: “The wind has changed slightly.
“We are getting more Atlantic air in, it’s probably still more of a northwesterly wind, but the source of the air is more out in the Atlantic rather than the Arctic which caused the weather on Monday and Tuesday.
“That was a blip which is normal at this time of year. It can fluctuate between almost summer weather and then turn to become very wintry.”
