Thug rumbled by Facebook detective victims

A brute who attacked two peacemakers, breaking one of their jaws, was rumbled after the pair tracked him down on Facebook and notified police.

Patryk Pawlak was having an argument with his girlfriend in George Street, Aberdeen when she approached Jean-Paul Lonchay and Jonasz Przetoka, asking if they would call her a taxi so she could escape his aggressive behaviour.

But a furious Pawlak punched Mr Lonchay in the head before hitting Jonasz Przetoka to the ground, breaking his jaw in the process.

The 24-year-old fled the scene before police could catch up with him, but his victims traced him via the social networking website and passed the information to officers, resulting in his arrest.

Fiscal depute David Thorburn told Aberdeen Sheriff Court yesterday: “The female asked the two complainers to contact a taxi for her as the accused had been behaving aggressively. While they were doing that he initially walked away, but he returned.

He shouted something in Polish, before punching the first complainer, and then punching the second one to the left side of the head, resulting in him falling to the ground.

“They left the area. The second complainer immediately felt pain to his jaw, but he didn’t seek medical attention until Monday morning. It was revealed that he had fractured his jaw.

“The first complainer carried out a search of Facebook, using the female’s name, and found her. That led him to the accused’s profile. He then identified him to police. The accused was thereafter detained.”

Pawlak, of George Street, Aberdeen, pleaded guilty to two charges of assault when he appeared in the dock yesterday.

Defence agent John Hardie asked Sheriff Christine McCrossan to defer sentence due to his record, which she did until June 9.

She told Pawlak: “It is a serious matter.”
