A man has been placed under supervision for three years after carrying out drunken assaults in two shops in Aberdeen on the same evening.

Craig Dick admitted to the charges relating to his conduct on May 6 during an appearance at the city’s sheriff court yesterday.

The 29-year-old entered a post office on Loirston Road in Cove at 7pm and asked members of staff if he could use the toilet.

They noted he was clearly in an intoxicated state and said the facility was for staff members only.

He then became aggressive and picked up items and began throwing them at an employee who went into the back room feeling intimidated and then called the police.

Officers attended the scene and identified Dick on the CCTV.

Around 40 minutes later he entered the McDonald’s in the Asda Store in Garthdee and was spotted by security guard Ryan Ritchie pouring ice onto his hand which then hit the floor.

Mr Ritchie escorted him out of the premises but was later told by another customer that he was outside causing a disturbance.

He spoke to him he was then grabbed by the pockets and pushed causing him to fall to the ground.

As Mr Ritchie used his radio to attempt to contact the police it was snatched away from him by Dick who ran away towards the car park.

Dick was subsequently apprehended but the radio, valued at around £350, was never recovered.

Defence agent John Hardie said: “My client pleaded guilty at the first possible opportunity.

“He has begun to attend alcoholics anonymous.

“He has suggested a restriction of liberty order for himself.”

Sheriff Morag McLaughlin ordered him to carry out 120 hours of unpaid work and placed him under supervision for three years.

He was also given a restriction of liberty order meaning he will be unable to leave his home on Faulds Gate in Aberdeen between the hours of 8pm and 6am for the next three months.
