A north-east teenager, who stalked his former girlfriend during a three-month period, after refusing to accept the relationship was over, has been fined £800.
Brandon Meister also attacked two men in a pub in Aberdeen after being overcome by jealousy.
The 18-year-old admitted the charges during an appearance at the city’s sheriff court yesterday.
He went to two night clubs in the city and a property in Turriff – where he knew his ex-girlfriend would be – between January 1 and March 12 this year and repeatedly tried to phone her and contact her through social media.
On one occasion at the Garage in Aberdeen , he shouted offensive remarks her, demanded she leave the premises and pushed her.
Then, in the Justice Mill on March 4 he became jealous and attacked two men, Robbie Mutch and Kane Hester, by punching them on the head.
Representing him, defence agent Mike Munro said he had never been in the situation before.
He added: “The girl mentioned in the charge was the first meaningful relationship he had entered into.
“When it ended, instead of moving on, he showed his immaturity and did not accept the relationship had ended.
“He went to certain night clubs he had frequented when he was with his girlfriend such as the Garage.
“When he saw her, he would go over and try to speak to her.
“He now accepts it was over and, the last time he saw her in the city centre, he tells me he didn’t even cross the road.”
“On March 4 he became jealous at the Justice Mill and swung two punches. He had no reason to be jealous.”
Sheriff Malcolm Garden, in imposing a sentence, said: “There are elements for concern here but I am told you accept that it was inappropriate.
“I accept this was a situation you were not familiar with.
“It has happened once so I will give you the benefit of the doubt, but it will be a significant financial penalty.”
Meister, whose address was given as Cameron Road in Bridge of Don, was given 20 weeks to pay the fine.
