A 20-year-old who smashed part of his girlfriend’s house during a row has been handed 50 hours community service for his behaviour.

Ryan MacRae also launched a tirade of insults at her, calling her offensive names. The pair are still together despite the heated episode.

Depute fiscal Colin Neilson told Aberdeen Sheriff Court: “Some time early in the morning on March 27, the accused and the complainer had a disagreement and she asked him to leave her house.

“The argument continued, during which he called her a slut, a mink and other derogatory terms.

“She got angry at this and the row carried on. At one point, he was outside the property and she closed the door. He started shouting things through the letterbox. He then struck the glass window panel in the front door.

“Neighbours heard the shouting, and then the window panel broke. The cost of the damage has not been specified.”

MacRae, of McFadden Crescent, Inverurie, pleaded guilty to wilfully destroying property.

Defence agent Richard Marshall said on his behalf: “He’s not currently working and he lives with his parents. He has no previous convictions.

“There was an argument between the two of them and the matter got very much out of hand.

He took it much too far. He had his first experience of custody and it’s not something he wants to do again.”

Sheriff Malcolm Garden told MacRae: “I am prepared to accept that this was an argument which got out of hand. You need to understand you need to conduct yourself better in these circumstances.”
