A cat found abandoned next to bins in Aberdeen has sparked an inquiry for information from the Scottish SPCA.
The animal, named Sandi by her rescuers, was discovered in a carrier on Ferrier Crescent last week.
A member of the public discovered the feline in communal bins and the Scottish SPCA is looking for information.
Officers have warned the cat could have sustained injuries had it not been for the quick thinking of the person who found her.
Inspector Fiona McKenzie said: “The cat had no obvious injuries when she was found, however that could have been drastically different if she had been left outside without food and water for much longer.
“Sandi, as named by staff, was found in a cat carrier tucked beside communal bins. We’re keen to establish why she was left.
“Abandoning an animal is an offence under the Animal Health and Welfare (Scotland) Act 2006.
“Anyone found guilty of doing so can expect to be banned from keeping animals for a fixed period or life.”
