An Aberdeen entrepreneur will embark on a 300-mile rickshaw adventure next month in a bid to save an endangered animal.
Garreth Wood, whose firm owns The Boozy Cow and Paramount Bar in Aberdeen, is aiming to raise £1million for the charity Elephant Family, working to preserve Asian elephants and their habitats.
He and his wife Nicola will be spend three weeks riding in a three-wheeler motorcycle rickshaw across the Indian state of Rajasthan.
He said: “I’m really excited about it.
“It’s going to be an adventure – we’ve never been to India before so I’m looking forward to seeing a different culture and meeting lots of new people.”
Mr Wood’s fundraising efforts will also be taking place closer to home, with thanks to a Scottish celebrity chef.
Hardeep Singh Kohli was tasked with creating an Indian-inspired burger, which will appear on the Boozy Cow menu from Monday until the end of the year.
Influenced by the vindaloo, the Vindacoo burger is made from pulled pork with a garam masala crackling.
All of the profits from it will go to the Boozy Cow Foundation, which splits funds between 18 charities including Aberdeen Cyrenians, Cash for Kids and Charlie House.
On top of this, Mr and Mrs Wood have agreed to pledge an additional £5 to Elephant Family for every burger sold.
