VIDEO: How you can see all 20 anchor sculptures together for the first time

People are being given the chance to see 20 decorated anchor sculptures together for the first time in Aberdeen.

The Friends of Anchor charity placed the works of art at locations stretching from Shetland to Stonehaven this summer.

The items have now been gathered together at Marischal College ahead of going to auction next month.

Charity organisers have stressed that this will be the last chance for people to glimpse the colourful creations prior to the sale.

The campaign officer behind the 20for20 fundraiser, Kirsten Horne, said hundreds of residents had already been to see the sculptures since the exhibition began earlier this week.

She added: “People are especially keen to see the anchors that were located in Shetland and Orkney, as they were not as accessible as the others we dotted about the north-east this summer.”

The anchors will be on display at Marischal College from 10am to 5pm until Saturday, October 28.

To make the idea of visiting more appealing to youngsters, the charity is staging a scavenger hunt for them.

Five sculptures have already been privately purchased, but the majority will be auctioned on Thursday, November 23, at Aberdeen’s Chester Hotel.

Friends of Anchor aims to raise £1million towards the development of a world-class oncology research team in Aberdeen.

The venture follows the success of the Wild Dolphins art project, which raised more than £500,000 for The ARCHIE Foundation and Whale and Dolphin Conservation charity.
