A fire in an Aberdeen high rise is being treated as suspicious by police.
Fire appliances were sent to the scene at Davidson House, Hazlehead Road, at around 7.39am.
A fire spokeswoman said there were reports of smoke from the sixth floor and the incident involved a door mat.
Teams used breathing apparatus and a fan to get the incident under control. The stop message came in at 7.57am and she added all “persons are accounted for”.
Police attended to assist at the scene, and following initial inquiries are treating the fire as suspicious.
Detective Inspector David Howieson, who is leading the investigation, said: “Thankfully no one was injured, and thanks to the quick actions of the fire service no one needed to be evacuated from the building. However I don’t think I need to stress that the consequences of this reckless and dangerous behaviour could have been much worse.
“Extensive inquiries are ongoing to trace the person – or people – responsible.

In particular we are trying to trace a man wearing a dark-coloured winter jacket who was seen in the area of the flats at around 7.30am who may be able to assist.”
