Hopes are high that the wedding between Prince Harry and Meghan Markle could take place in the north-east.
The couple announced their engagement yesterday and revealed that their big day will be held in the Spring.
However, no details have yet been released on the location of the much-anticipated event.
The Duke and Duchess of Rothesay celebrated their honeymoon in Scotland at Birkhall in Royal Deeside in 2005.
But last night local residents refused to be drawn on speculation that the latest royal wedding would take place here.
Councillor Geva Blackett, who represents the Aboyne, Upper Deeside and Donside ward, was upbeat at the news of the engagement.
She said: “I am absolutely delighted.
“I share a birthday with Prince Harry and I’ve always had a soft spot for him.
“I have often wondered who would manage to tame him as he has got character.
“I think she is going to be absolutely great, she is clearly an intelligent woman who shares his outlook of helping people and giving out more than you take back.”
She added: “I haven’t heard anything about the wedding taking place in the north-east, I’ll be delighted wherever it takes place but if it happens in Crathie that would be absolutely great.”
Reverend Ken Mckenzie, of Crathes Kirk, said he had not heard any details about where the ceremony was likely to take place.
Other venues which are being speculated about as possible destinations include St George’s Chapel in Windsor Castle, St Paul’s Cathedral in London, the Canongate Kirk in Edinburgh, the Church of St Mary Magdalene in Norfolk as well as the Guards’ Chapel at Wellington Barracks.
