A disabled Aberdeen man says he has struggled to leave his home for days following the “worst gritting job in 40 years”.
Gairn Road resident David Scott, 54, has avascular necrosis, a condition which causes the death of bone tissue due to a lack of blood supply, making it hard for him to walk at the best of times.
Recent cold weather and icy pavements have left him unable to venture outside.
He said: “I can’t even walk to my car in the morning, I’m paying my council tax but can’t even leave my home. It’s a total disgrace.
“I’ve seen women with prams walking down the middle of the street because the pavements are so slippy.
“I’ve lived here for 40 years and this is the worst gritting job I’ve seen.”
A council spokeswoman said that gritters concentrated on main “priority one” roads before tackling more minor streets.
She added: “The priority one routes make up almost half of Aberdeen’s roads network, and are never impassable unless there are abnormal conditions.”
