A woman has appeared in court, charged with the murder of a man found dead in Aberdeen this week.
Emergency services attended a property at Alexander Terrace in the Tillydrone on Wednesday morning where they discovered a body.
The man was later revealed to be 65-year-old Alan Cowie.
Following this, Sharyn Stewart, also known as Massie, was detained by police on Thursday.
And yesterday, the 52-year-old appeared in Aberdeen Sheriff Court charged with his murder.
She was also charged with attempted murder and attempting to defeat the ends of justice.
The woman from Aberdeen made no plea or declaration and was remanded in custody. She is expected to return to court within the next eight days.
Detective Inspector Gary Winter, of Police Scotland’s Major Investigation Team, urged anyone with information to get in touch.
He said: “I would like to thank the members of the public who have assisted with our inquiries so far.
“A visible police presence will remain in the area while our inquiries continue, and I would ask for your continued patience.
“Our thoughts are with Mr Cowie’s family and friends at this difficult time.”
“Mr Cowie was well known locally in the Tillydrone area and I would like to appeal to anyone who has seen Mr Cowie over the New Year period, or has any information they feel is relevant, to get in touch with the Police on 101 or Crimestoppers if you would prefer to remain anonymous.”
Mr Cowie’s family released a statement, which said: “As a family, we have been left shocked and saddened by Alan’s sudden death.
“We would ask for privacy at this difficult time as we try to come to terms with our loss.”
Following the death of Mr Cowie, who was also connected to the Buckie area, neighbours paid tribute to him.
One woman, who did not wish to be named, said: “I knew him quite well in passing, I last spoke to him three days ago when we talked about our Christmases.
“It was a real shock to wake up and see the news, he was the type who would go out of their way for you.”
