Two men who stamped on a man’s head repeatedly during an Aberdeen street fight have been spared jail.
Friends Adrian Kubiak and Janusz Zamyslewski were enjoying a night out when they headed down Belmont Street.
But they came across Robert Mullen, who had stripped off his top half and was attacking one of his own friends.
He then struck Kubiak and a fight broke out between them.
Mr Mullen fell to the ground, and took Kubiak with him.
Aberdeen Sheriff Court heard that Zamyslewski then kicked Mr Mullen repeatedly on the head, and when Kubiak got to his feet, he joined in.
The pair, both 23, admitted assaulting Mr Mullen to his injury and danger of life on February 26 last year.
The court heard Mr Mullen was taken to hospital and put into intensive care, although discharged himself later that day.
The court was also told that Mr Mullen had already been jailed for assaulting his friend and Kubiak.
Sheriff William Summers told the pair: “You are both very fortunate that you are not facing a more serious charge.
“You both appear to be genuinely remorseful.”
He ordered them both to carry out 300 hours of unpaid work as a direct alternative to jail.
