A man who got drunk and fell asleep on a piano, before punching a security guard and calling him a paedophile, has been locked up for six months.

Graham Milne, who is currently in prison for a previous conviction, appeared in Aberdeen Sheriff Court yesterday and pled guilty to assault and acting in a threatening manner.

The court heard that, at around 2pm on November 29 last year, security guards at Union Square were made aware of a man who was sleeping on a publicly available piano in the shopping centre.

Procurator fiscal Carrie Stephens said: “They went to the piano and tried to wake him up, but when they couldn’t they phoned he police.

“It was moments later the accused did wake up, and called the security paedophiles and rapists.

“They took him to a corridor in the shopping centre and waited for the police to attend.”

During the altercation, Milne, 44, punched and kicked one of the security staff.

Milne’s defence agent said: “He was heavily intoxicated, but of course this is no excuse.

“He appreciates this was frankly disgraceful behaviour.

“This is a man who has struggled for many years with an alcohol addiction.”

Sentencing Milne, Sheriff Sukhwinder Gill said: “Your behaviour was disgusting, and the comments you made were derogatory and completely inappropriate.

“I take into account that you have pled guilty at the first opportunity.”

He was sentenced with six months imprisonment in addition to the time he is already serving in prison for a previous conviction.
