Police have revealed that a missing Aberdeenshire man was last spotted nearly 40 miles from home in Aberdeen’s city centre.
Searches have been ongoing for Rhynie resident Alan Jones, 52, who was reported missing last Friday.
The home of the English mechanic was searched on Sunday by forensic officers.
Last night police revealed the last sighting of him was last Wednesday afternoon in the city centre.
Sergeant John Kearney said: “We don’t believe Alan has come to any harm however we have concerns for his well-being and must ensure he is safe and well.

“I would appeal to Alan directly to make contact with Police if he sees this appeal by calling 101. I would also ask anyone who has seen Alan or a man matching the photograph and description provided to contact officers quoting ref. no. 4814 of 25 May.
“Our enquiries are continuing and I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who has assisted so far and to those who have shared our appeal.”
Mr Jones has been described as 5ft 11in tall with short brown hair and speaking with an English accent.
He may have been wearing a dark t-shirt and jeans when he disappeared.l
Billy Pow, a friend of Mr Jones told the Press and Journal that the handiman “would do anything for you” and the disappearance was “out of character”.
He added that he had moved to the small Donside village many years ago and said that he had mobility problems.
He added: “He’s quiet and keeps to himself but he’s a fine guy.”
