Two men have been jailed for attacking a couple in Aberdeen over a dispute about money.
Connar Hudson and Lee Fairbairn were out drinking together when they headed towards Sainsburys supermarket on George Street to buy more alcohol.
On the way there they came across Robert Muirson and Paige Stephen and Hudson got into a discussion about exchanging a £20 note for two £10s.
This quickly turned sour and a fight broke out and the two repeatedly punched and kicked Muirson.
Fairburn also attacked Miss Stephen and threw her to the ground.
He then followed Mr Muirson into Sainsburys where he continued to attack him and pushed a metal baton into his mouth.
The two men, both of HMP Grampian, confessed to the assault which took place on March 3 this year during an earlier appearance in Aberdeen Sheriff Court where they returned to be sentenced yesterday.
The court heard Mr Muirson’s mouth had been damaged but surgery had not been required.
Representing Fairburn, 31, defence agent Mike Monro said his client had not brought the baton to the scene.
And for Hudson, 26, defence agent Neil McRobert said the build up to the incident was disputed and his client said Mr Muirson had taken a £20 note but not returned the two £10s.
Sheriff Jack Brown jailed Fairburn for 18 months and Hudson for 15 months.
