Cancer survivors from two popular charity events reunited this weekend to view the events in which they had a starring role.

Participants from this year’s Courage on the Catwalk and Brave – annual fashion shows which celebrate the resilience of men and women who have faced a cancer diagnosis – met up to watch the highlights on the big screen.

And they enjoyed a special DVD viewing at the Belmont Film House in Aberdeen on Saturday, which included a back-to-back screening.

2018’s Brave and Courage shows raised more than £260,000 for cancer and haematology charity Friends of Anchor.

The CotC initiative was launched in 2013 for female cancer survivors, and Brave came into being last year.

Participants from both events relished screenings of the performances alongside friends and family.

The event comes as FoA plans to host its inaugural alumni event for the men and women involved with the fashionable fundraisers.

The charity is planning a stage a dinner dance occasion at the Chester Hotel on September 15.

The evening will include a glass of fizz on arrival, five-star dining and live entertainment across the night.

Sarah Jane Hogg, fundraising director at FoA, said: “This will be the first year we have brought the guys and girls together for the alumni event and we are so excited.

“Although the majority of the model year groups are very good at keeping in touch with one another, we also plan this annual get together as a way of bringing all the models across the years together.

“This is in celebration of the friendships made, the inspiration they are to each other and all those who have heard their stories through COTC and Brave and the impact they’ve brought to Friends of Anchor.”
