A pensioner has been put on the sex offenders register after flashing at a woman in her 80s he met at church.

Steven Skinner, of Monarch Terrace, Aberdeen, exposed himself to his frail victim when she invited him in to her home for a coffee.

The shocked woman later told police she was “disgusted” following the incident on July 4.

The 69-year-old pleaded guilty in Aberdeen Sheriff Court yesterday to exposing himself in a sexual manner.

The court heard that the pair developed a friendship through attending the same church, with Skinner taking the woman for lunch, shopping trips and to church in the weeks before the incident.

Fiscal Katie Murray told the court that, on the morning of the offence, Skinner had been invited to the property to return a jacket she had mistakenly left in his car.

After making some coffee, she returned to find Skinner had undone his trousers.

Fiscal depute Katie Murray said: “The accused sat down on the sofa and, upon the complainer returning with his coffee she observed him to have his genitals exposed.

“She instructed him to leave and raised the alarm with a warden.

“She later told police that she was upset and alarmed by his behaviour and that it was completely disgusting and wrong.”

The court heard that Skinner subsequently told officers he had felt “an urge”.

Defence agent Iain McGergor suggested to the court his client was “perhaps in a situation where there’s a mental health background”.

Sheriff Sukhwinder Gill placed the accused on the sex offenders register and deferred sentencing to allow for the production of a risk assessment and social work report.

Skinner will reappear for sentencing on October 3.

The court imposed a condition that he must not approach the woman involved.
