Mackie’s 19.2 at Marischal Square has gone digital inviting you for a look inside on Google Maps.

The online project allows you to tour the ice cream shop without having to step foot in the door – giving you plenty of time to decide on your favourite flavour.

Following a casting call on the Marischal Square Twitter page, ice cream enthusiasts gathered underneath the iconic leopard statue outside the parlour last Thursday morning. All together 54 people turned up but only 16 made the directors cut for the final scene.

A total of 240 photographs were taken from six different positions to create the interactive tour. These were then stitched and edited together in a process that took around five hours to complete.

Mackie’s Digital Marketing Executive, Ross Byrne said: “The shooting process took 30 to 40 minutes with 54 individuals wanting to take part.

“Filming was a lot of fun and full of funny moments as everybody had to sit still for two or three seconds multiple times to get the perfect photo.”

“This was the most people ever shot in a Google 360 tour we’ve produced but in the end we settles for 16 so you would still be able to see the best aspects of our parlour without people blocking your view.”

Mackie’s 19.2 opened in Aberdeen as part of the redevelopment at Marischal Square in December last year. The name was chosen as it describes the exact number of miles from the Westertown farm to the parlour.

As well as ice cream the cafe has a chocolate tap – delivering perfectly melted liquid chocolate to top their selection of crepes and waffles.
