A police biker was taken to hospital after colliding with a truck at a busy Aberdeen roundabout.
The officer was on a police motorbike when the accident involving a flatbed truck happened at the Haudagain roundabout at around 11.40am on Wednesday.
Paramedics took the biker, in his early 50s, to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary (ARI).
The plumbing services truck, which appeared to be heading from North Anderson Drive, showed damage to the driver’s side of its front bumper while the bike was left lying on the road.
A police spokeswoman later said that there was no indication that the wounded officer had suffered serious or life-threatening injuries.
A spokesman for the ambulance service added: “We received a call at 11.37am to attend a road traffic collision at the Haudagain roundabout.
“We dispatched one ambulance to the scene and transported one male patient to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary.”
As the emergency services arrived, huge queues of traffic built up in all directions around the notorious bottleneck roundabout.
One commuter described tailbacks for about two miles in the direction of Bucksburn, along the A96 Aberdeen to Inverness road.
Another frustrated motorist said the trip between the two spots took her about 30 minutes as police officers carefully guided traffic past the scene of the incident.
There was similar congestion on North Anderson Drive, Great Northern Road and Mugiemoss Road.
