Standards have slipped at a city council-run nursery with its quality of staff branded “weak” by inspectors.
The Care Inspectorate paid an unannounced visit to Charleston School Nursery in Cove last month, and published its findings last night.
During its last check of the facility, in 2016, staffing was given a 5/5 very good rating but this has fallen to 2/5.

Inspectors said children were potentially being placed “at risk” because of a lack of communication between staff, and that procedures to keep the youngsters safe at hometime were not being followed.
The report added that often children were “not being supported to achieve their potential”.
The Care Inspectorate did praise employees for being kind and caring, and developing close bonds with the children, however.
It has recommended that staff improve their knowledge of children’s play, ensure the youngsters’ routines are flexible to let them direct their own play, and communicate more effectively with one another.
An Aberdeen City Council spokeswoman said: “The early years’ service is working with the school to address the areas for improvement highlighted in the inspection report and significant progress has already been made.”
