A north-east Christmas Tree festival starts today, bringing festive cheer to the people of Aberdeen.
A selection of decorated trees will be displayed both inside and outside Cults Parish Church in Aberdeen.
The trees started the year planted in the environs of the church and were looked after by a team of grounds people.
With the tenth annual Christmas Tree Festival poised to begin, they have now been potted, and 26 magnificent trees will be on public view within the building.
In addition, there will be another four trees in various outdoor areas.
All the trees have been decorated by local church groups, community organisations and businesses, who have got involved in the initiative to sponsor them. These include: Messy Church, Cults Toddler Group, Tor Na Dee Care Home, Forget-Me-Not-Group and local rainbows and guides.
Reverend Shuna Dicks of Cults Parish Church said: “This kind of thing brings the community together, and it has been such a success for the last ten years.
“We sent a call to action out in November, and various groups came forward to design and sponsor trees.
“The Christmas Tree Festival provides a chance for people to escape the hustle and bustle of the festive period, and come together for such a lovely event.”
Throughout the festival, there will be a series of musical performances from local soloists and small groups.
People will also have the opportunity to follow a prayer walk focusing on a series of trees, which will remain in place after the festival throughout the rest of Advent and Christmas before going back in the ground in the New Year.
The festival runs from today until December 16 and is open from 1-7pm each day.
In addition, there will be a Service of Hope tomorrow, running from 7pm.
