A north-east teenager was one of the star attractions at a charity Christmas concert in Edinburgh last night.
Aberdonian Orla Prentice, who is currently training for a BA Honours in Musical Theatre at the city’s MGA Academy of Performing Arts, performed at the Usher Hall in front of more than 2,000 people.
A Christmas Wish is a charity show which has raised more than £25,000 during the past five years.
The 17-year-old, who has been performing since she was seven, was a member of the Phoenix Youth performing arts group in Aberdeen.
The former Albyn School pupil has starred in a range of theatre favourites, from The King And I to Oklahoma! as well as supporting the Strictly Come Dancing tour.
Orla said: “I’ve technically been dancing since I was three – my mum thought I had too much energy as a child and enrolled me in classes so I could channel my energy somewhere.
“I enjoy all the disciplines, but I think singing is my real strength. I hope to go on to sing on cruise ships or maybe even perform on the West End.”
Proceeds from ticket sales are used to make a considerable donation to The MGA Foundation, a charitable fund that helps aspiring singers, dancers, actors and musical theatre performers with finances.
