Christmas has come early for Friends of Anchor with a generous donation of £50,000.

It has been the chosen charity of Barrat Homes for two years, and in total, more than £100,000 has now been given to the organisation to help it continue its work across the north-east.

The company’s latest £50,000 donation will go directly towards The Anchor Centre, due to be open by 2021.

Friends of Anchor supports cancer and haematology patients from Aberdeen, Aberdeenshire, Orkney and Shetland at the Anchor unit at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary.

Sarah-Jane Hogg, fundraising and development director at the charity, said: “It’s been great to receive the support of Barratt North Scotland for the past two years.

“Without such support, we would struggle to provide the level of service that we do.

“Every penny donated to Friends of Anchor makes a huge difference to the lives of those suffering from cancer and rare blood diseases.”

David Palmer, managing director at Barratt North Scotland, added: “Whether it is providing the latest medical technology, delivering comfort and care to patients or leading the fight against cancer, Friends of Anchor provide an invaluable service to so many individuals and families across the north-east.”
