A 44-year-old man has been charged by police and is expected to appear in court today following an alleged assault believed to have been “sexually motivated” on a teenage girl in Aberdeen.
The incident was claimed to have taken place as the girl was walking along Byron Crescent in the Northfield area of the city at 5pm on Monday.
It is understood that a 16-year-old girl comforted the shaken teenager until police arrived.
Police said they believed the incident was sexually motivated.
Detective Inspector David Howieson last night said: “I would like to once again thank those who assisted with this inquiry.
“I know that a number of people helped at the scene of the incident and again I would like to thank them for their actions.”
The alleged victim boarded a number 12 bus at His Majesty’s Theatre on Rosemount Viaduct at about 4.35pm on Moonday. She then got off the bus on Provost Rust Drive just before 5pm.
