Second day of rail delays as Aberdeen signal fault causes set backs

ScotRail customers are experiencing another day of delays as signal faults at Aberdeen cause disruption for the rest of the line.

Trains to and from the Granite City are effected including Inverness, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Inverurie and Montrose services either being delayed or revised up until 12.15pm today.

Network rail reported the error at 8.21am and engineers are expected to fix the problem at around 9am.

Unhappy

This has meant for unhappy travellers this morning. Comments have been posted to ScotRail on their Twitter – one customer saying that their carriage has no heating as it is stuck on the line by Duthie Park.

Another user shows their anger with engineers not arriving onsite until 9am.

What do ScotRail say

A statement on the ScotRail website said: “We are dealing with a signalling issue at Aberdeen. Due to a fault with the signalling system disruption is expected to last until around 12:15 today.

“Our staff have been mobilised and will arrive on site shortly. Once we have more information from the ground we will keep you updated.

“We are sorry that you have been delayed today.”

Rail replacement service

ScotRail have request of four Aberdeen coaches, three Hamish Gordon Coaches and one JP Mini Coach at Dundee to bus passengers to their destinations.

North of Scotland

Another signal fault has occurred in Inverness effecting services to and from Wick and also Kyle of Lochalsh. These trains are subject to delay or revision.
