One of the biggest names in classical music is to take to the stage in the north-east.
Young saxophonist Jess Gillam, who many people regarded as the highlight of 2018’s Last Night of the Proms, will headline a show for charity Aberdeen Chamber Music Concerts (ACMC) next month.
The 20-year-old made headlines when she made the final of the BBC Young Musician competition at the age of just 17.
And, on February 11, she will perform with celebrated Turkish pianist Zeynep Ozsuca at Queen’s Cross Church.
Founded in the 1930s, ACMC puts on six concerts every year with the aim of bringing a range of high-quality classical music to the region.
Secretary Joan Macdonald said: “It is going to be an excellent night with a world-class musician.
“People have been asking me how on earth we have managed to get Jess – and that’s because we had to book her two years ago!
“We’re very pleased and excited about it.”
Tickets are currently available to ACMC subscribers, while others will be available on the door on the night.
