A group dedicated to preserving memories of Aberdeen’s past for future generations will have its first meeting next month.

Garthdee Heritage Group will launch on April 23, in the hope of bringing old stories back to life and sharing them with the community.

Holding informal weekly meetings, it will produce a book of memories and a story wall to bring locals together.

A showcase or open night are also being considered to highlight the group’s findings at a later date.

A spokesman said: “This would be a fun, exciting, interesting, and valuable project for our community and one where the only skills you need are positivity, friendliness, and the will to do good.

“This project can only happen if there are people willing to get involved, so this is our challenge to you – let’s do this, let’s produce something that retains our community’s heritage.”

The first meeting will be held at Inchgarth Community Centre at 7pm on Tuesday, April 23.
