A protest group set up to stop the development of Aberdeen FC’s new £50million stadium is now urging supporters to lobby politicians on the plans.
No Kingsford Stadium (NKS) was formed to fight the Dons’ dreams for the new stadium and training facilities at Kingsford on the outskirts of the city.
But, following a lengthy legal battle in the Court of Session in Edinburgh, after Aberdeen council bosses approved the plan, their case was thrown out last month and the group said they would not appeal the decision.
Work has already begun on the training facilities element of the stadium development, but NKS has now called on backers to lobby councillors to ensure promised transport and parking conditions are met.
When the plan was passed, council chiefs insisted that a controlled parking zone is installed and a footbridge built at the site. It is understood that some conditions will come before council committees to be voted on.
But club bosses will meet with both city and Aberdeenshire council bosses to see how these issues can best be addressed.
A statement posted from the group said: “It’s been amazing to get such positive feedback from our supporters over the last couple of days.
“The Westhill residents against the development certainly seem to be united with us in thinking that we must continue to pressure AFC into delivering their promises to the community and that Aberdeenshire Council must ensure that the taxpayer is not burdened with any of the costs relating to this private development.
“Aberdeen City Council planning department must also ensure, as per the specific planning condition, that no stadium development is commenced… without the relevant transport conditions being met.

“It is vital that we let our elected representatives know that we expect them to represent and protect us against the negative impacts that a football stadium will inevitably bring to our community.
“We must keep the pressure on to ensure our community does not suffer unnecessarily because of this development. ”
An city council spokesman said: “The planning authority shall follow the usual procedure when monitoring compliance with conditions.”
Aberdeenshire Council declined to comment.
Aberdeen Football Club were contacted for comment.
