Aberdeen City Council is poised to install speed bumps along a street which is regularly troubled by dangerous driving.
Residents on Bedford Place have complained that motorists frequently exceed the speed limit when using the street to travel between Bedford Road and Sunnybank Road in Kittybrewster.
The local authority has carried out a public consultation about the possibility of creating speed bumps along the route to ensure that drivers obey the 20mph speed limit.
However, one person has objected to the move, which means that it will now be debated by councillors during at a meeting on May 16.
Alexander McLellan, a councillor for Tillydrone, Seaton and Old Aberdeen, believes that the proposal will be unanimously backed.
Residents last night backed the move.
One man, who has lived on Bedford Place for decades, said: “You see cars speeding along here quite regularly, some of them go at quite a pace.
“Putting speed bumps here is probably the best thing the council could do.
“I don’t like them myself, but a lot of children go along this way and the bumps seem to be the only option.”
An employee at the Glamour Eyes beauty salon added: “Something needs to be done because of the school at the end of the road.”
Last month, the police launched an operation in the surrounding area to deter people from driving at dangerously high speeds.
Constable Louis Jullien said: “A number of vehicles were stopped and drivers given suitable advice regarding their speed.”
