A tourism scheme has been launched to help guide visitors to some of the north-east’s most famous attractions this spring.

From Tuesday, the first 1,000 visitors to nine key destinations across Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire will be able to buy a “Spring Rover” ticket, enabling them to visit three more of the participating attractions free of charge.

The project brings together the Aberdeen Science Centre, Balmoral Castle, Braemar Castle, Fyvie Castle, the Grampian Transport Museum in Alford, the Macduff Marine Aquarium, the Royal Lochnagar Distillery, the Museum of Scottish Lighthouses in Fraserburgh and the Gordon Highlanders Museum in Aberdeen.

The 2019 ticket will be valid until July 5.

Each of the nine venues will have 1,000 tickets available for the standard entrance price.

Claire Matthews, manager of the Macduff Marine Aquarium, said: “This initiative is an excellent example of the top attractions of Aberdeenshire working together to enable visitors and local people to experience the best that the north-east has to offer and to spread the message that we are incredibly lucky in this region to have so much to see, do and enjoy.”

“This offer will enable visitors to experience much more of the north-east than they might usually and hopefully will enthuse others when they get home.”
