A serial stalker has been banned from contacting a woman after stalking her for over a month.

Stuart Wilkie, 26, of Whitestone Farmhouse, Westhill, pled guilty to the charge of stalking causing “fear and alarm” at Aberdeen Sheriff Court yesterday.

Depute fiscal Callum Thomson said Wilkie began sending the woman unwanted e-mails and texts between March 2 and April 8 this year, also trying to reach out to her on  numerous social media accounts.

Wilkie also drove past the woman’s home address on more than one occasion and followed her “repeatedly” whilst also driving too close to her.

Defence lawyer Ian Hingston stressed that the messages had not been threatening and that he had shown “clear concern” about the matter.

He added: “In his interview he gave a full and frank admission.  He pled at first opportunity.”

Sentencing him yesterday, Sheriff David Hall said Wilkie had “done it before” and told him that he had therefore “not learnt your lesson” which caused the sheriff “grave concern”.

He said: “It is a poor attempt at a joke and simply beggars belief.”

Sheriff Hall imposed a community payback order of 160 hours of unpaid work.

He also placed Wilkie under a two-year Non-Harassment Order which forbids him from contacting or trying to contact the woman in any way or from entering the street where she lives.

Wilkie will also have to take part in the Caledonian programme as part of his rehabilitation.

Sheriff Hall warned Wilkie that if he breached the restrictions in any way he would be sent to jail.
