Hundreds of people turned out to celebrate an Aberdeen community sports centre’s 90th birthday.
Albury Outdoor Sports Centre in Ferryhill marked the occasion with a special open day on Saturday.
As part of the proceedings, the team organised a putting competition hosted by chairman Chris Law of the Kings Links Junior Fund.
Judy Addison, secretary of centre’s committee, said: “We had a fantastic day.
“One of the exciting things we did was host a putting contest, which was really popular.
“We had more than 150 entrants for the competition.”
Committee members also celebrated the opening of a new outdoor petanque facility, where Lord Provost Barney Crockett took his turn to cast the first boule.
Mrs Addison added: “There were so many different activities, like tennis and croquet and these were free for people to try.
“It was hard to keep track of all the people coming in and out, but we must have had around 400 people turnout on the day.
“We’re grateful the Lord Provost was able to attend, he even stayed to play a few rounds.
“We are usually a very busy centre, but this open day was special since we were celebrating our 90th anniversary – and it was great that the weather held out for us.”
As part of the festivities, the committee organised an exhibition of old photographs and press clippings.
Mrs Addison said: “Everyone in the area remembers the centre, it is a point of community pride and neighbourhood pride.
“There are so many of us who remember using it when we were growing up or taking our families there.
“We decided to piece together as many old press clippings and photos, but now we hope to keep a few of them up since we did get some nice picture frames.”
