Aberdeen’s Music Hall played host to the National Whisky Festival as hundreds gathered to sample the best spirits in Scotland.
It’s the first time the event has been staged in the Granite City, with up to 30 exhibitors celebrating all things uisge-beatha with tastings, live music and whisky related crafts.
Distillers came from all over Scotland offering more than 100 different whiskies to try including Bruichladdich, Dalmore, Loch Lomond Whiskies and Glenturret to name a few.
Stacey Wilson, festival organiser, said it was a special occasion: “The festival gives people a chance to try something new and meet the people behind the brands that they love.
“It’s important for the distillers too, it gives them a chance to speak to the people who love whiskey one-on-one.
“It’s a celebration of all things whisky.”
Time for another?
One exhibitor offering something a little different is Fiodh. Fulfilling his father’s dying wish Glasgow designer, Michael Youmans, has started a business producing watches out of vintage whisky barrels.
The 29-year-old hand makes every watch from materials sourced from around the country, with faces from reclaimed barrels and the straps made from a mix of Harris Tweed and Scottish leather.
He said: “Today has been great – we know that whisky is so important as part of our heritage and it’s great speaking to people who love whiskey more than just drinking it.”
