Listeners of an Aberdeen radio station were treated to some golden oldies after three guest hosts in their eighties and nineties took over the airwaves.
Irene Cormack, 91, George Fowlie 88, and fellow 88-year-old Margaret Trew, who live at Persley Castle Care Home in Bucksburn, visited presenter Dave White during his Memory Lane show on community station Shmu FM.
The guest DJs had come armed with a list of requests from the facility’s other residents, and picked a series of classic tunes from the likes of Cliff Richard, Judy Garland and Elvis Presley.
The visit was also something of a reunion for 88-year-old Mr Fowlie, who volunteered at the radio station between 2006 and 2009.
He said: “It’s wonderful to be back. I remember lots of things and it’s made my day.”
Karen Cole, activities coordinator at Persley Castle Care Home, said: “This was a fantastic experience for our residents.
“They are huge fans of the Memory Lane show so when the station invited them in to be hosts for the day they were thrilled.
“They were so enthusiastic and had so many suggestions that we decided that they’d be brilliant guest hosts.
“We work hard to ensure that the residents retain connections and have opportunities to engage with the local community It has a really positive effect on their wellbeing.”
